Data Collection Process
At DTB Maritime Solutions, our data collection process is both efficient and adaptable to meet the unique needs of your vessels. We gather data from the AMS and all onboard sensors via Modbus communication. This is achieved through two flexible methods: either by installing specialized devices that seamlessly convert Modbus data to Ethernet, or by retrieving data that already resides in third-party cloud services.
What sets our system apart is our capability to combine devices, allowing every digital, analog, or Modbus signal to be easily edited and configured from our platform. This means you have complete control over how your data is managed and presented. Once the data is acquired, it's securely managed in one of two ways: we install our software in a virtual machine (VM) on the ship's server or we set up a dedicated PC device running our software.
From there, our data transmission solution comes into play. The collected data is securely transmitted via the ship's network using the MQTT transmission protocol, ensuring real-time and reliable communication. Finally, this valuable data finds its home in the DTB Maritime Solutions cloud infrastructure. Here, we perform in-depth analysis, leveraging the power of data to provide meaningful insights to our clients. Our goal is to not only collect data but to present it in the most valuable and actionable way, empowering you to make informed decisions and optimize your vessel operations effectively.
Reliability in Poor Connectivity Areas
One of the standout features of our system is its ability to maintain data integrity even in areas with poor satellite connectivity. When the connection is lost, our system steps in to automatically buffer the data. This means that every piece of data produced onboard is stored safely until the connection is restored. What's more, the buffer retains the data in the exact order it was produced, ensuring the integrity of your data during transmission.
The buffer can hold data for up to one week, which is especially valuable in situations where extended connectivity downtime may occur. It's important to note that this buffer memory is specifically designed for transmission upon satellite connection restoration. It cannot be accessed or read by anyone other than authorized personnel, providing the highest level of data security.
